If you haven’t given Twitter a shot, you should. I must admit that I was pretty skeptical at first. Random strangers talking about random things. Is that interesting, really?
It turns out that it is.
You’ll find a boatload of historians, academics, writers, and otherwise fascinating folks sharing thoughts and links to some of the most intriguing news from the past. Once a week, I’ll post the links that I found tweet (or retweet) worthy.
And by the way, if you’re new to Twitter and want some help getting started, feel free to follow me @history_geek. Shoot me a DM (direct message) to say you found me via Wonders & Marvels. I’d be happy to introduce you around!
And if you happen to be into medieval history, you’re really in luck. Here’s a list of 60 tweeters for medievalists…good place to start for anyone interested in history, actually.
And for all you Twitters out there, be sure to leave your username in the COMMENTS. Tell us, too, what your experiences have been. Good, great, so-so, or not worth it?
I felt the same way about Twitter. I think it’s something you have to try in order to get. It’s been a great professional and social tool for me.

I’m still working on creating an interesting Twitter feed, but it helps that there are so many interesting folks already doing it!

Hey, I added you on twitter, but can’t DM you because you don’t follow me. @jenniferksights Look forward to whatever interesting tidbits you have to share!
for me, Twitter can be a great timewaster, but I agree that the interesting bits out there can be, well, interesting, and useful! I don’t watch or read news often, so it also helps me stay up on major current events.

Between my blog, twitter, and facebook, I get to share my posts as well as meet people with similar interests.

I tried twitter, but haven’t really figured it out yet. I don’t have the time to sit down and “play” with it to really know how it works.
