I just wanted to say that I'm about halfway through this book and am enjoying it immensely. Obviously there's a lot I didn't know about Betsy Ross herself (like being married three times), but the amount of detail on what was going on around her and how it might have affected her is impressive. Not to mention that it's very readable along with being informative--not every book manages that! Thank you again.

I just visited Philadelphia and Betsy Ross's home. I was surprised to learn that she made part of her living as an upholsterer. My mother (and most of my family at one time or another) makes her living as a seamstress and upholsterer. She also makes battle flags (for the re-formed 1st New Hampshire Regiment) and Revolutionary War uniforms. As "sisters of the needle", we have identified with Mrs Ross. This book looks like another interesting aspect of a very resourceful and hardworking woman.

This sounds so interesting! I know almost nothing about Betsy Ross (this post is the most information I've read on her before!) so I'd love to read this book.

I, too, cracked up at the idea of Betsy Ross as a CNN junky! I'd love to be entered in the drawing -- I know absolutely nothing about this clearly fascinating woman!

I would love to learn much more about Betsy Ross! I wish I still had the awesome ceramic bank that I owned as a child, which depicted her sitting in a yellow rocking chair sewing the American Flag. I loved that thing! Please enter me in the drawing, marieburton2004 at yahoo dot com

I just read a review of Marla Miller's book in the Sunday paper and put it on my look-for list. Coincidentally, I mentioned Betsy Ross in a history spot I wrote last week for our History Museum feature. These two disparate events must surely mean I should sign up for the drawing.
