I remember standing in the gallery over the water at Chenonceau and wishing so badly that I could have known what it was really like all those centuries ago. I guess that's why I've spent my life studying the sixteenth century, just like you and the seventeenth. I always find it interesting how different centuries appeal to different people. Why the 17th for you and the 16th for me, medieval for some, 18th or 19th for others? I can totally relate!
