		<description>I can totally relate! I remember standing in the gallery over the water at Chenonceau and wishing so badly that I could have known what it was really like all those centuries ago. I guess that&#039;s why I&#039;ve spent my life studying the sixteenth century, just like you and the seventeenth. 

I always find it interesting how different centuries appeal to different people. Why the 17th for you and the 16th for me, medieval for some, 18th or 19th for others?</description>

		<description>oh, I love this post... reminds me of when I hiked out to ile de la grande jatte one sunday back in 1999, and was a little disappointed not to find seurat sketching there. come to think of it I&#039;m always having paris moments like this. but when I go and see proust&#039;s bed at the musée carnavalet it does look just like he&#039;s just gotten up from it.</description>
